After researching the Orthodox Faith (I am Roman Catholic) I have come to realize that perhaps the most serious dillema plaguing the Eastern Church is its division over the Church Calendar. From visiting webpages of the ROCOR and the True Church of Greece, I have gathered that they view the Calendar change as a major stray from Orthodoxy and base a great deal of their break with the canonical Church on it. They have written not a few articles about the history and implications of the Gregorian switch, and I have come to sympathize with them.
However, before I convert to an Old Calendar jurisdiction, which is something I am considering, I'd like to here more of the other side's story. I have tried to find their defences for adopting the Gregorian, but have found very little information. It doesn't seem to be a grave issue for the "modernists" in the way it does for the "traditionalists". I admit that my perception of these things is probably at least somewhat askewed; afterall, I have little experience in Orthodoxy outside the realm of academics. I would greatly appreciate any sort of response from anyone.
If I have offended or belittled anyone in any way, please forgive me, a silly little sinning girl.
In Christ,
Marianne
