Cute but in truth most Old Calendarists with whom I'm familiar use December 25th as their commercial holiday and do their buying then. So they're no better off in terms of the pocket book. What I do find, however, is a readiness... almost a gleeful anticipation by some Old Calendarists, to heap scorn and judgment upon those of the New Calendar. That is in direct violation of Scripture. I can't think of any New Calendarists who engage in the same past-time. What might appear to be such, is actually a spirited defence against the polemic of Old Calendarists whose websites and periodicals abound with such Pharisaical articles. Tassles... beard lengths... olive oil lampadas... how many steps to take on the Sabbath... calendars... women whose heads must be covered...women who should remain without communion during their menstrual cycle... they love to measure and to render judgment. Frankly, I've better things with which to concern myself... namely my sin and my struggle to live as a Christian 24/7 without pointing a self-righteous finger at another.
Bottom-line for me: if the Old Calendar and all of the above brings you closer to the Lord, assists you in becoming a more loving, compassionate human being, and brings you peace by which others find their salvation then GO FOR IT.
For me... I'm quite content to be where I am, working out my salvation with fear and trembling and asking of Old Calendarists to please let me do so and basically mind your own business... which is your own salvation.
