orthodox worship

Hello,

My wife Adele has been posting here on this site recently, and is steadfastly convinced in the Orthodox way. I too have been searching and seeking to worship God in spirit and in truth, but it is more difficult for me to move beyond what I already know.

We have been members of a charasmatic church for the past 3 years, and up until last summer was very involved in several different ministries, mainly music and fine arts (dramatic production. I was also involved in a Sunday morning prayer group that would meet before dawn at the church and pray for the Holy Spirit to direct us in our prayer. I must say that I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit many times.

Now after this background, I can pose my concern. I guess I am just afraid of losing the clseness I have felt with God, the direct interaction, so to speak, if I put myself into the Orthodox Church. Maybe this doesn't make any sense, but it is a major concern for me.

Also, I would like to know how the orthodox form of worship came to be.
