There are several modern music programs running around. All is not 4th century chant. Fr. Peter Gilquest's son has produced a new modern Orthodox music CD. There is also, the Greek Monks that are touring the US right now, with modern, rock based music. The church that you came from probably has hundreds of modern performers, this church has few, Think about that? The ancient church and the modern man are not necessarity inconsistent. But the Vaalam CD's think about those ancient pieces of music and think what you as a modern man could do. Also listen to CAPPELLA ROMANA, that group is producing modern conservative Orthodox music. They are out of CA. There are several websiyes out there marketing Orthodox Music, Rocmoninoff, and Cjiacowski ( I can never spell those name even after studying the covers) were very contemporary in their time. In fact the Russian church only lately has recognized their contributions.
