Great question. I "think" one factor might be the relative unknown status of Orthodoxy in America (even though it is supposedly one of the fastest growing faiths it is still relatively new to many). As a result, I suppose many Christian bookstore owners/operators do not order any materials because they think there might not be a potential audience or a relatively small audience at best. I doubt that it is some plot to keep Orthodoxy from the mainstream. I know that we are just as frustrated as you since the only means we have is via the internet or a two hour drive into Portland on the strange and few hours the two Orthodox church bookstores choose to be open to the public. I sure wish more Christian bookstores would make Orthodox books available. Hey... here's a thought. Why not approach a few bookstores in your city and ask that they order some Orthodox materials (from Light and Life, Conciliar, St Vladimir's, even Thomas Nelson)?
