Not exactly sure what your objection is, Danny, but ultimately it doesn't really matter. You must bear in mind that no individual is in a position to judge the Church of Jesus Christ. The collective wisdom and the guidance of the All-Holy Spirit of God for two millennia is evidence that the Church is divinely protected and guided. Those who have sought to discredit and destroy her are long since gone and yet the Church remains... even after decades of persecution from the Ottoman, the Romans and the Communists.

So, what may seem right to you is really irrelevant. You either align yourself with the wisdom of the Church and place yourself under her guidance or you find yourself outside the Church and under her judgment. The choice is yours.
