I don't know if I can agree with the Michalengelo's presentation of death given here. I do not think that Orthodoxy explicitely believes in heaven and hell, a purely Catholic creation during the Renaisance. Orthodoxy's view is more eastern. Death is both a tragedy and a blessing (Kallistos Ware "The Inner Kindgom" pg.27-32). It is not part of God's orignal plan, but it is His gift to us in the fallen world. It offers us the final escape from the suffering of this existance, and the final communion with God. Where do we go once we die? The whole universe, absoltely everything is Him. We go to Him.
