I would like to know what is expected of an Orthodox priest. Is he supposed to be compasionate ? Is his mission to conduct services as he sees fit, or should he approach the church council and ask how the parish as a whole feels about what ever he would like to change. We have a new priest and he bluntly tells us that we are spiritually dead. Our church (St. Marys Orthodox Church) in Coaldale, Pa. is soon to celebrate 100 years, and he tells us that we are spiritually dead. Is he wrong, or are we wrong ?
