I have found it very interesting reading of this topic. As it is Jan. / 04 I pray that by now this "problem" has been solved for you Isaac and you have a SF. When I chose my SF it was a priest that is conservative in his thinking. I am a member of an Antiochian Orthodox Church so I also wanted wanted a SF rooted in that, not a convert and with a middle eastern heritage. This was important to me as I am a convert and am new to this Orthodox faith so I had to feel assurred there would be no "short cuts" given to me. I chose my SF as a life long commitment. He can never be my friend nor do I think can my Priest. Yes both must be friendly to me and the chemistry must be right but never my friend. It must remain SF and Priest.
