This is my first time to this site. My husband and children were just received into the church this last November on the Feast of the Presentation of the Theotokos. Our real journey began that glorious day, but it was a long road before that. I started out in an ultra conservative Roman Catholic church which left the Roman Catholic church and became what is known as the Society of Pius the X. We left when they made the final split when I was in fourth grade. Up to this time I had only attended a Latin mass my whole life my parents still did not understand Vatican II and were not comfortable with the changes that had occured in the church at this time in 1979 there just happened to be a Byzantine Catholic Mission starting and so my parents joined because it was under the Pope and a liturgy they could accept. I hated it at the time I was in fourth grade and did not like any part of it. Later I rebelled and joined a regular Roman Catholic church in college. Shortly after I met my husband to be who had just moved from attending a Roman Catholic church to the Byzantine Catholic church. I again began attending and began to find a beauty I had not seen before. We both fell in Love with being Eastern Catholic. When we had children we became more serious about our faith and really began to try to weed out the westernization of the Eastern Catholics and try to return to our ancient heritage when we did this guess were we ended up. We left the Eastern Catholic church because of it being a Uniate church we saw this as wrong and not a good place to be. The question that came to mind was which church is the true church Roman or Orthodox. I had been told my whole life that I was in the One True Church. When we sat down to study it we could not deny the fact that the Orthodox church was the One True Church. My husband was an easy convert. I had grown up so staunchly "Cathlolic" and the Pope being the head I had to do a lot more reading and it took me longer. We started attending the Orthodox Church on Pascha last year and Nov 21 2001 our Journey into Orthodoxy began. I have found Christ and His Church and a new life!!
