Thanks for the reply. I tend to try to find, though not a "rationalistic" basis for everything, at least an objective reason for the Truth. Since "Sola Scriptura" is so problematic, I guess I'm searching for an epistemic method of discovering if Orthodoxy is in fact THE True expression of Christianity. I'm looking for any evidence that veneration of icons and praying to anyone other than God are in fact part of the Apostolic kerygma and Tradition and not merely innovations of man added later. Blame it on my Protestant upbringing, perhaps, but those two practices are my biggest barriers in coming to Orthodoxy as I can't shake the notion that both are somewhat idolatrous.
I am going to keep searching, though, as I feel I cannot at this point go back to being a contented Baptist (although I will remain in the bapist church until Im convinced of the Church I need to be in).
