Dan my point about old testament worship was not wether or not instruments where used or it was eastern chant but the picture of deep reverence in worship.

As far as what language to use in worship i find no problem using english in a worship services. My church uses a combination of modern greek and english, which works out pretty well. At the same time you can learn another language such as greek.
"Worship should be God focused" - that might be done but good luck in your attempt to change modern evangelical christianity.
Dumbing down i think the issue is both content and style where is the reverence in christian rock? Missionary zeal, true but the effectiveness of it at all is questionable and i agree that orthodoxy has been a bit of a hidden secret to the american culture. The orthodox church is active in africa and many other countries throughout the world. Orthodoxy in america was established by russian orthodox missionaries. Dan it seems to me that your pretty happy were you are at but as i said before i dont think that you will be able to change the course of modern evangelical christianity. Waiting for your response.
