Why is every one making a big stink about the liturgy being all or partially in Greek, or even if it's in Arabic, Russian, Ethiopian, etc? I am of Lebanese and Palestinian parents growing up in an Antiochian Orthodox church here in America. I don't speak Greek but understand some of it in the liturgy, have been, and still am learning the meanings of the words that I don't know. I have attended liturgy at Orthodox churches all around the world and have heard it in some 10 different languages where I have felt at home, followed the liturgy, enjoyed it and all its full richness of the varied cultures and traditions within Orthodox church. The liturgy in Greek together with the other ethnic languages is part of the Orthodox tradition. The Orthodox liturgy in any language is the Orthodox liturgy but it's our tradition of having it in Greek together with the other ethnic languages. Moreover, I for one do NOT want to see any of the Orthodox traditions change just because it is here in America. You do not have to be ethnic or speak the languages just to be a part of or even go pray and to learn about the great Orthodox heritage and traditions. Just go, pray, and learn as you go if you want but we must keep our traditions alive here in America.
