Dear Dee Gee
It is sad and it is also a sad commentary on the Greek Orthodox Church here in America. My wife and I tried two different Greek churches and finally threw in the towel. I believe the Greek Church will ultimately fall under judgment for its ethnic ghettoism so rather than criticize it anymore in this short post, I'll simply give it over to the Lord to deal with as He sees fit.
As for your children, we certainly can't blame them for their lack of interest. About all you can do is pray for them and set a good example. The Lord will bring them back in His time and in His way. Hopefully they will find an Antiochian or OCA church that will welcome them and make them feel a part of the community. Meanwhile, I pray you will not grow weary. I should probably add that my wife and I are still struggling for acceptance at our own church. We go and worship the Lord and receive His Body and Blood. Beyond that...we recognize that we do not have the proper ethnic genes to really fit in as far as the parish is concerned so we generally don't stay for coffee. Besides, the church is so far away we can only attend once a month.
I wish you the Lord's best.
